Job Title: Social Services Worker

Work Location: On-site (no remote option)

Salary:$36.20 per hour
32 to 35 hours per week

Terms of Employment:

Education:College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate/diploma (1–2 years program)
Or equivalent experience
Experience:1 year to less than 2 years

Key Responsibilities / Tasks:

1. Prepare reports or case histories
2. Appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services
3. Conduct social research
4. Implement life skills workshops
5. Refer offenders to community and social services programs
6. Assess client strengths and development needs
7. Provide suicide and crisis intervention
8. Supervise children’s visits with parents to ensure safety
9. Assist offenders in pre-release and release planning
10. Implement substance abuse treatment and behaviour management programs
11. Conduct individual and group counselling sessions
12. Liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers
13. Maintain program statistics for evaluation and research
14. Assist in evaluating treatment program effectiveness
15. Screen, recruit, and train volunteers/support staff
16. Assist clients with special needs
17. Refer clients to financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services

Credentials / Certificates Required:

1. Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
2. First Aid Certificate
3. CPR Certificate
