Job Description
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor site progress against established schedules.
• Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, change orders, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Direct the purchase of building materials.
• Prepare the estimated costs of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
• Prepare cost and forecast for the duration of each project.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors
• Use computer programs specific to the construction industry, such as scheduling estimating software.
• Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, email software, and drawing software.
Experience / Skills
• 5 years experience in the construction industry, preferably in estimating, project management, or site management.
• Knowledge of construction methods, systems, Bylaws and Coding.
• Experience with estimating/project management software, preferably CoConstruct.
• Strong ability to interpret construction plans.
• Strong computer knowledge and ability to self-manage tech requirements.
• Ability to liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing industry.
Education Required
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Education or training from an accredited program related to cost estimating, project management, business management, or financial management. Or demonstrated equivalent in experience and skillset within the construction industry.
