Caregiver needed for two children aged 17 (male) and 13 (female). Both have autism; the older is completely non-verbal, and the younger is almost non-verbal.

Job Type: Full Time 30 hours per week, flexible working hours if required, weekends are required.

Salary: $24.50/hour

Start date: As soon as possible

Duties:

• Getting the children ready for school in the morning – breakfast, washing, dressing

• Administer medications (if needed)

• Administer first aid in emergencies

• Assist children with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene

• Feed or assist in feeding

• Assist daughter with homework

• Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walking

• Assume full responsibility for household (in the absence of householder);

• Launder clothing and household linens

• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties

• Provide companionship

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals

• Meet the school bus when children are dropped off in the afternoon.

• Participate in any at-home therapy sessions with the therapist ( such as speech and physiotherapy).

• Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision.

Job Requirements:

• Education Requirement: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

• Experience: 1 to less than 7 months

Experience with autism and Down syndrome is an asset.

Experience in the use of AAC devices is an asset.

Experience as a B.I or an SLP assistant is an asset.

• Weight handling – up to 120 lbs – this will NOT be lifting

• Must have a recent criminal record check

• No smoking of any kind, no drug use, no pets
